What is it that makes Mailchimp so popular though?

Its templates, possibly the free plan that is appealing for small businesses (but won’t help you down the line), its segmentation options and its A/B testing options are some of the features that made it into what it is today.

But Mailchimp isn’t for everyone.

Of course, you’re in luck, seeing as there are plenty of Mailchimp alternatives out there, with features that will suit your needs better.

2. Mailchimp Alternatives: SendInBlue – The Social One

Our second runner up in the MailChimp Alternatives catwalk is SendInBlue.

mailchimp alternatives: mailchimp vs sendinblue

SendInBlue is a kind of software that can encompass many aspects of marketing:

From automation and email campaigns to SMS messages, CRM tools and social media ads, their motto “Grow. Sell. Engage” couldn’t be more fitting.

SendInBlue offers a free plan as well, which allows users to use most of the platform’s features. However, there is a daily sending limit of 300 emails per day, which doesn’t sound ideal.

With SendInBlue, you can have a wide variety of integrations, unlimited contacts to upload, even sales CRM and SMS sending, as well as transactional emails.

You can also have unlimited segmentation options as a free user, real-time reporting and analytics and plenty of email and SMS personalization options.

SendInBlue, with its simple and straightforward UI and its unique SMS marketing options, seems to be a pretty good choice in the field of MailChimp Alternatives.

What about the features?

SendInBlue offers a series of features set to engage and help businesses grow quickly and easily.

There are options for those who need the platform for their email marketing endeavors, those who would love to get going with SMS marketing and also those who would care more for some live chat.

There are, of course, more features to choose from, with stellar marketing automation options, segmentation options to help your business say the right thing to the right person and a variety of templates to choose from, for your transactional emails.

And for those of you that want a one-size-fits-all option, just keep in mind that SendInBlue helps with great CRM tools, dedicated landing pages, and Facebook Ads options.

And what about the pricing?

As I mentioned, there is a free plan that covers some of the basic features and would be great for small businesses.

If you are a new marketer and 40.000 emails per month are enough, then prices start at $25 per month.

However, that price includes the free features, but an unlimited number of sends per day, as opposed to the free plan.

There is a wide variety of pricing options of course, complete with a pay-as-you-go plan as well, making SendInBlue an affordable option.

Up next, I’ve got GetResponse, another email marketing and automation tool that could prove to be a great MailChimp alternative for those of you who want something more affordable but packed with all your favorite things.

mailchimp alternatives: mailchimp vs getresponse

First of all, GetResponse is one of the best value-for-money MailChimp alternatives out there, with a lot of options for customization.

It’s easy to use and gives the option of a full, complete marketing platform.

Secondly, with so many options as far as customization is concerned, it’s very easy for brands to create their own, unique brand tone and stick to it, rather than try to get things right every time they want to create an email newsletter.

GetResponse doesn’t offer a free forever plan, but it does offer a free trial of 30 days for all its billing options (apart from the “Enterprise” one, of course).

What about the features?

GetResponse offers a wide variety of features for those of you interested to explore this MailChimp alternative.

So, you’ve got mobile-responsive email design that will help you maximize your conversion rates, a very powerful and handsome email creator and landing pages creator and plenty of email forms to choose from.

What is more, there are all the A/B testing features you will need, integrations for your favorite apps, advanced segmentation options, and a great lead-nurturing CRM.

Note though that not all features are available for all plans.

And what about the pricing?

GetResponse does not offer a free forever plan, but it’s a MailChimp alternative that is more on the affordable side.

It offers a free 30-day trial option for all plans, except for the “Enterprise” plan.

If you are a small brand with around 1000 contacts that doesn’t need too many or too fancy things, then you can choose between a monthly, yearly, or a biannual plan that will cost $15/month, $12.30/month and $10.50/month respectively.

4. Mailchimp Alternatives: Constant Contact – The Helpful One

Constant Contact is the fourth MailChimp alternative in this list and it’s not randomly named “The Helpful One”, seeing as their team is constantly trying to educate their users through webinars and courses while working towards making the platform easier to use.

5. Mailchimp Alternatives: MailerLite – The SME-Friendly One

MailerLite is the fifth one of the MailChimp alternatives I decided to present and it’s a feature-packed software, made to help SMEs grow and thrive.

mailchimp alternatives: mailchimp vs mailerlite

MailerLite is simple and easy to use, has one of the best sets of email newsletter templates, fantastic customer support and helps with a bunch of things one would need help with, when it comes to designing and implementing all of the strategies your team came up with, when it comes to your email marketing campaign.

One of the most helpful things MailerLite can do (albeit not its best feature), is creating PDF brochures that can be shared amongst customers.

All in all, MailerLite is perfect for freelancers of all kinds (writers, designers, bloggers, etc), nonprofits and, as I’ve already mentioned, SMEs.

What about the features?

As I said, MailerLite is a feature-packed tool that can help you reach your end goals.

You’ve got your editors, your newsletter templates, a file manager and a subscribe manager that can help you track and trace what your users love or love to hate.

You will also get a landing page builder, pop-ups and even embeddable web forms.

Want to have a separate unsubscribe page? There is a builder for that.

And of course, there are all the classic integrations, email automation tools and anything one would expect from their email marketing software.

Customer service is strong as well, with a 24/7 agent ready to assist and both email and live support.

And what about the pricing?

MailerLite could be the best value-for-money MailChimp alternative, besides Moosend, seeing as it can offer plenty of features at a fairly low price.

The free forever plan does exist but has very limited potential. Not to mention customer support is not included in the free plan.

Apart from that, prices start at $10/month. MailerLite is one of the MailChimp Alternatives that take the number of subscribers into account when it comes to charging, with the free plan allowing only 12.000 emails per month and being valid for SMEs with up to 1000 subscribers, the $10 allowing up to 1000 subscribers but having unlimited potential both feature and email-wise and so on and so forth.

All in all, MailerLite is a great tool for those who want to send bulk email campaigns with a decent delivery rate at a very low price.

6. Mailchimp Alternatives: AWeber – The One With All The Integrations

This MailChimp alternative is one that can really help you out, if you need something that “plays well with others”-ie, has plenty of integrations and features for you.

mailchimp vs aweber

AWeber will give your business the opportunity to design and personalize your email marketing endeavors and target the audience you want to target, each and every time.

Its unique set of features will help you build sustainable and long-lasting relationships with your customers and your prospects and will boost conversions.

What is more, there are plenty of integrations for this platform and it can be used easily with eCommerce platforms/software like Magento or Unbounce, along with plenty of testing options.

And all that comes at a very nice price.

What about the features?

AWeber is one of the best choices for email marketing, especially if you’re looking for a MailChimp alternative to try. Let me tell you why:

First of all, AWeber offers the opportunity to use autoresponders, thus helping you maximize user engagement.

Not to mention that they’ve got a pretty decent template library with HTML templates and email marketing analytics to go with your campaigns.

AWeber also has a mobile app, which makes all features accessible at any point in time.

This MailChimp alternative can give you a nice boost when it comes to bulk email campaigns and segmentation options as well.

There are, of course, more features to this great software, but what you should keep in mind is that it’s a very nice option for those of you who need to create engagement in an automated manner and get some insight with its tracking options.

However, as far as we know, importing data using AWeber could potentially be a hassle. This is not this platform’s strong suite.

And what about the pricing?

While there is no free forever plan, AWeber is more on the flexible side, offering a free 30-day trial with all the features available and no obligation to continue.

AWeber charges by the subscriber, meaning that as a user, you’ll gain access to a full list of features right off the bat.

If you’re a small business with up to 500 subscribers, AWeber’s prices start at $19 per month.

The platform also offers a quarterly and annual billing option, thus helping you find the one that fits you best.

You can also change your billing plan down the line, and AWeber’s customer support will definitely help you out, in case you don’t know what to do.

7. Mailchimp Alternatives: DotDigital – The Innovative One

DotDigital is one of those MailChimp alternatives that are innovative and aim to engage through creating the best marketing emails.

mailchimp vs dotmailer

Essentially a cloud-based engagement platform, DotDigital is a great tool that can integrate with all the basic platforms and send automated messages that can entice and engage.

Its automation builder is fairly easy to use and its email editor is more than enough to help you create email newsletters that will capture your users’ attention.

What about the features?

DotDigital may come across as an engagement platform, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have all the tools needed to name it one of the best MailChimp alternatives for 2019.

Apart from the real-time APIs and the integrations, DotDigital can offer plenty of things when it comes to email marketing and automation tools.

If you decide to go forth with DotDigital, you’ll get communication and segmentation tools that can help you out with all your endeavors.

Their drag-and-drop email editor is fairly easy to use and enables you to take advantage of all the content you need, in order to design emails like a pro!

Last but not least, DotDigital’s software helps you make data-driven decisions and use product recommendations in order to boost your conversions.

And what about the pricing?

DotDigital offers a free 14-day trial that promises to help you create and retain your relationship with your customers by giving you a taste of their services.

However, there is no clear and concise pricing plan. If you’d like to use that MailChimp alternative, you should contact a representative and request a quote.

8. Mailchimp Alternatives: Mailjet – The Last One

Last but not least in our list of MailChimp alternatives is Mailjet, a tool that has been around for quite some time and is ready and willing to grant the users all the experience, automation and innovation they may need.

mailchimp alternatives: mailchimp vs mailjet

Through Mailjet, you can use real-time analytics to track and trace your mailing lists and how your users respond to your emails.

Plus, this Mailchimp alternative is fairly easy to use, which makes it a very popular choice among beginners, even though some have faced difficulties, as expected.

MailJet also offers a fairly large number of email templates, even though their templates are branded, when it comes to the free plan.

Which doesn’t exactly look good.

Mailjet offers plenty of features that can help marketers reach their end goal.

Apart from the classics-email automation, email templates and tracking tools-this Mailchimp alternative can give extra knowledge to the user, with their team of delivery experts, who are there to support every customer.

Mailjet also offers the opportunity to track user behavior and compare campaigns in order to make sure that there is enough data to determine the success or failure of each campaign.

If you need SMS marketing for your marketing endeavors, Mailjet can offer that as well.

And there also is a free forever plan. But we’ll get to that in a tick.

And what about the pricing?

Mailjet offers a free forever plan that will cover your needs if you don’t need to send over 200 emails per day or don’t exceed 6000 emails per month.

Pricing starts at $8.69 and the sum is billed annually.

The whole model is a “pay-as-you-grow” deal (as they call it on their website): The more emails you need to send per month, the higher the cost.

Of course, not all features are available for all pricing models, with the bigger downside being A/B testing and segmentation being available only for the premium programs.

Takeaway

While MailChimp is supposed to be the leader amongst email marketing and automation platforms, it can be really pricy, really fast.

This is why brands are constantly looking for alternatives.

Luckily, good MailChimp alternatives are not too hard to find, especially nowadays with such a plethora of options available, that are more affordable or, perhaps, carry more features.

Is there any other MailChimp alternative you’ve found to be of use that wasn’t included in this article?

If so, don’t hesitate to tell us in the comments and, as per usual, share the knowledge with your favorite marketer.

Very informative article. I had been using MailerLite because of the free-forever plan, but I needed a customer support, and I was not willing to pay just for that (I did not need any extra feature except for the customer support). Moosend, on the other hand, has very attractive features compared to the pricing and, of course, a customer support on the free plan! Thanks!
