Why We’re Moving Away from SMTP Ports 465 and 25000
You may have seen our recent message about updating your SMTP settings.
This only affects your SMTP port setting. All other Moosend features, including automations, API campaigns, and landing pages, will continue to work as usual.
Here’s why this change is happening and what you need to do.
What It Means for You
Switching to port 587 improves security, ensures smoother delivery, and makes updating your settings simple.
- Security first: Older ports like 465 and 25000 don’t meet modern email security standards. By standardizing on 587 (with STARTTLS), we ensure all emails are sent using the latest encryption methods. This helps protect your messages and your recipients.
- Better compatibility: Major email providers (like Gmail and Outlook) and firewalls expect traffic on port 587.
- Improved delivery: Using the industry standard means fewer blocked connections and smoother delivery.
What You Need to Do
Switching is pretty straightforward. All you have to do is:
- Update your email client or server to use port 587
- Keep the same username and password you already use
Also, no changes are needed for automation, API campaigns, landing pages, or other Moosend features
If you’re currently using ports 465 or 25000, please switch to 587 before October 1, 2025. After this date, messages sent through the old ports will no longer work.
This small update ensures your emails remain secure, reliable, and fully supported.
