Moosend’s live chat support has helped Anastasia with urgent issues—a service she couldn’t find with other providers.

Anastasia is a blogger and YouTuber with expertise in Pinterest marketing and blogging. She helps creators and businesses grow their online presence through learning courses, videos, consulting services, and other digital products.

Early on in her online journey, Anastasia saw the value of email marketing. But she also faced challenges like low open rates and audience engagement. She shares how Moosend helped her improve list-building, create engaging newsletters, and drive traffic to her channels.

The challenge: Getting from sent to inbox, and from inbox to open

At first, growing your email list feels like a big win—more subscribers mean more potential customers and revenue. But as Anastasia quickly realized, a larger list also brings new challenges.

“As your list grows,” she explains, “getting lower open rates is a common issue.” Like many marketers, she noticed that with every increase in subscribers, her open rates dropped.

She also saw the number of broken or invalid email addresses, and the number of people who never opened her emails start to pile up.

At one point her open rate fell below 20%. Frustrated with poor customer support from other email marketing platforms, Anastasia decided to tackle the problem at its root.
“I had used 3-4 email providers before Moosend,” Anastasia mentions. “Moosend, luckily, has the tools and features that helped me address this issue.”

Pro tip: A bigger list isn’t always better. Prioritize list hygiene and engagement over sheer size to avoid plummeting open rates.

The solution: Testing, not guessing

According to Anastasia, the key to improving her open rates was testing her emails before sending them. And the first test is called “spam test.” In her own words, “Before sending each email newsletter, I use Moosend’s Spam Test feature to check if any elements in the title or copy might trigger spam filters.”

This feature crawls the entire email and automatically creates a “mini report.” It shows how your email scores against popular spam filters helping you make changes before hitting “send.”

But testing doesn’t stop there.

Anastasia checks what real subscribers think of her emails through A/B testing. “A/B testing shows me I’m not always right,” Anastasia mentions, as she walks us through the process.

With A/B testing, you can test two different versions of your email. In Anastasia’s case, she tests two different email subject lines. Through Moosend, she tests subject line A and subject line B using a small portion of her list. Her go-to is 10% of her subscribers for each version.

“An hour later,” she continues, “Moosend compares which subject line resulted in higher open rates.” After that, the process is automated. Moosend’s platform sends the email with the winning subject line to the remaining 80% of her list.

“I usually put the subject line I think is the best as option A. Often, option B turns out to be the winner.”

Along with spam testing, A/B testing email subject lines helps maximize open rates while minimizing the risk of landing in the spam folder.

As she points out, “The spam and A/B testing features are not only my favorites, but also pretty unique. I haven’t seen these features before on other providers.”

By combining spam and A/B testing with a healthy, clean list and Moosend’s 98% deliverability rate, Anastasia successfully tackled her low open rates.

And the numbers speak for themselves.

Anastasia’s open rates have been consistently around 25%. Which is remarkable, considering her list size of about 27,000 subscribers.

Pro Tip: To avoid spam filters, make sure you’re not using words like “Free”, symbols like “$$$”, or too many emojis in your subject lines and email copy.

The result: Turning subscribers into a loyal audience—even on autopilot

Using email marketing helps Anastasia keep an open conversation with her audience. “People find me on YouTube or Pinterest—they might watch a video and never come back.”

Her goal is to build a loyal audience base. Sending weekly newsletters to inform subscribers of updated content has helped her thrive as both a content creator and an educational business. “That’s more of an active part of my email marketing strategy,” she says.

For Anastasia’s business, email engagement is integral. And high open rates are the first step to an engaged audience. But a relationship with your audience is not built overnight.

Automated email sequences that work passively are also part of the equation. “I only had to set them up once for new email subscribers to automatically receive a series of emails relevant to the lead magnet they signed up for.”

Anastasia’s sequences include 5-7 daily emails with content that leads to a reminder of the blogger’s paid products.

“I also use Moosend for my flash sales, like Black Friday deals and some major holidays,” she concludes.

But all this wouldn’t have happened without a little… support. As a final note, Anastasia mentions another favorite feature. “Moosend was the only email platform for me that had the option of live chat support,” she says. “When you have an urgent issue, live chat is invaluable!”
